Today at lunchtime we played with the ball. We kicked it and bounced it against the wall. We kicked it up in the air. We chased it around the playground. Joe booted it really hard. It was really windy today and the ball kept rolling away. Tana fell over and got a Harold the Giraffe plaster for his elbow. We had a great time in the wind. It pushed us along when we were running.

Arwen's last day

Today is Arwen's last day at our school. She is going to live in Australia. We made a chocolate cake and put chocolate icing on it. This is Arwen cutting it so we can all have a piece. It tasted really good! Have fun at your new school Arwen!

My slug's name is Sam. He slithers fast in the jar. Mum found him at Marg's house. He is big and long. He has brown and black spots and his colour all over is dark brown. He feels squishy. He feels slimy. He likes to eat vegetables from the garden. We need to be gentle with him because he might squash easily.

Today Constable McKitrick came to see us. He told us some funny stories about the things he used to do when he was a little boy. Sometimes he did silly things! Guinea Pigs in Room 13

Today Lily brought her pet guinea pigs to school. This is Lily's Mum taking the guinea pigs out of their cage. Lily and her brother have lots of guinea pigs. They like to eat grass and they really like to eat dandelions. Lily told us that guinea pigs come from Peru in South America. They feel really soft and we had to be very gentle. We could hear them talking to each other when we were really quiet!

Rocket Making

We made space rockets at Discovery Time. We used cardboard and lids and we stuck everything together with glue and cellotape. We think they look pretty cool!

This is my swan. I made it with Dad at home. I made it out of wood and nails. Dad helped me. The wood feels smooth in some places but it feels rough in other places. It has sharp bits on the beak and on the tail.

Fundraising For Christchurch

On Friday the 4th of March we came to school dressed in red and black and we all brought a gold coin to school. We are going to send the money to Christchurch to help the people in Canterbury who have been hurt by the earthquake. We hope they are going to get better soon.

Arwen made this car all by herself. She cut up the box and added a new piece of card at the front. She glued on headlights for eyes and made a face with marker pens. I like the way she added handles at the sides to hold on to. Great thinking, Arwen!

My name is Charlotte. I made this car at Discovery Time. I used a cardboard box for my car. I stuck on bottle tops and cellotape rolls for lights. I made the straps with cardboard strips. I even have door handles on my car!

My name is Tana. My Dad found this spider at my house. It was living in a hole in a brick. We think it is a tunnel web spider. They like to eat insects. They make a web around a hole and jump out to catch anything that walks on their web. They come out at night time. Ms Le'mon is glad she is not out walking at night time!

My Dad went diving in the sea and he found this starfish. The water was 5 metres deep. The starfish has 6 legs. The legs have little spikey bits on them. It looks like an octopus because of all it's legs. I think starfish eat kina.

Today we went to the hall to see the candy floss machine! It needs lots of sugar and it comes out pink! Janine was putting in the sugar and Kelly was spinning it onto a stick. We got to have a little bit and it was delicious!

Computer Day

On Thursday mornings we have the laptops in our classroom. We get to play on the computers. We have been playing on Reading Eggs with Ms Le'mon. We play games to win points and the games get harder. We can play these games at home too. I like taking my character on the bus.

Variety Bash

This is Super Hubert. He is a magician. He came to our school today and did lots of magic tricks. He was very funny! Lots of people came in funny cars and even in fire engines. They gave us lots of treats like pens and magnets. We had to decorate our hats and wear them to school. We all gave a gold coin to the people and they are saving all the money up to help kids who are sick. At the end of the magic show the fire engines splashed everyone with water. That was good because it was so hot!

Pizza!

We are making pizza. We had to squash out the dough to make a pizza base. Then we could put tomato sauce or spaghetti all over the dough. Next we put ham, pineapple and cheese over the top. Michaela's Nana helped us. Her name is Joan. Thank you Joan! Our pizza's tasted fantastic!

Pancakes!

Today we made pancakes! We had to add water to a special mixture and then shake shake shake it in a bottle. Rachael helped us cook the pancakes on a special cooking plate. We had to be very careful not to touch it. We could put maple syrup, cream or strawberry jam on our pancakes. They were delicious! Thank you Rachael!

Ball Skills with Mr Head

On Mondays and Wednesdays we have ball skills with Mr Head. We have been learning how to make nests with our hands to catch a ball and how to pass a ball to a buddy. We have learned to keep our eyes on the ball or else it can hit you on the head.

Baking Biscuits

This week we are learning about the letter b and today we baked coconut chocolate chippie biscuits with Rachael. We helped measure the ingredients and we used a special cake mixer to mix everything together. We rolled the dough into little balls and squashed them!
They tasted great!

Yummy Yoghurt

Yesterday we made this yoghurt. We made strawberry and banana yoghurt. Most of us liked the strawberry yoghurt the best but Sam liked the banana. We think yoghurt is a healthy food to eat.
